PMP Certification - IPFW

In addition to documented real-world project management experience, the Project Management Institute's (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification requires classroom training. To satisfy this requirement I enrolled in an online PMP training class offered by Gatlin Education Services through IPFW's Department of Continuing Education. This class guides you through the concepts of the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK). In addition to this class I also read several self-study books.

Web Design Certification - IPFW

The web design certification was offered through IPFW's Department of Continuing Education. This was a series of classes on HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, and Flash. The certification culminated in a final project designed to demonstrate the key principles taught in each class. I later followed up this certification with classes in advanced HTML and advanced Flash.

MBA - Indiana Wesleyan University

I enrolled in Indiana Wesleyan's MBA program out of a desire to strengthen my business credentials. In addition to topics such as management, economics, finance, law, and a final project to develop a business plan the program taught me how get things done under pressure. In the program project teams are formed with other students. You learn to work with new people on new subjects with strict deadlines. Over the course of the two-year program I have studied and written papers late at night, at baseball games, and in campgrounds, to name but a few places. Despite the rigors, I maintained a 3.97 out of 4.0 GPA. This was done while working full time and maintaining family commitments.

BS Computer Science - Purdue University (IPFW)

In high school I was the kid who came to school an hour early and stayed until they kicked us out of the computer room in the evening. This was before the advent of the personal computer. It was then that I knew I wanted to study computers and needed a degree from a well-known university. Limited finances necessitated going to IPFW rather than Purdue's main campus. Still, I earned a solid degree and built relationships that continue to this day.
